They had known each other for three years, but that night something flared between them.
Describing the moment, Anna told Lorraine in 2015: “I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost 20 years and I know Sue on the circuit, but about a year and a half ago we met at a party and I was recently single and we just… What can I say, there was an understanding between us and for me the planets aligned and I just thought, this person, it’s not even a woman, this person is absolutely extraordinary.
She continued: “It was an extraordinary connection, it’s been amazing.”
Speaking about how her parents reacted when she had a relationship with a woman, Anna said: “My dad’s a vicar, my mom’s an ER teacher, so you’d think ‘this isn’t going to go over too well’, but they were really really , really open to the whole thing and you can see that I’m happy!
“People get obsessed with sex and just want to know ‘what do you do in bed?’ – It’s not about that, it’s about the person and it’s about the connection with that person and she’s a wonderful human being and that’s what I’ve fallen in love with.”
Anna moved into Sue’s renovated house in north London and was open about their romance, while Sue was much more shy in interviews.
