‘George found some of my things scattered on the floor. All that for this street here. He got in touch with the contact numbers there.

‘I’m so thankful, I’m so thankful. It just goes to show that when some people do things that aren’t very nice, you get some people in this world that are more than nice.

Last year, writing in New magazine after Declan Donnelly was attacked by robbers, Peter recalled a similar incident that happened when he was in Australia.

He explained: ‘Our house was broken into three times in one night by the same people while we were sleeping.

“They took jewelry and it was horrible. He wants to feel safe in his own house.

“Knowing that someone has been in it, intending to take your stuff, and the fear that they might want to do something worse, it’s horrible.”

Last week, it was reported that Peter can’t remember an alleged one-night stand with Rebekah Vardy and is talking to lawyers about how to avoid a repeat of his claim, along with his tease that he’s “hung like a chipolata.”

During Wagatha Christie’s libel trial in High Court this month, Rebekah was asked about her kiss-and-tell interview in which she claimed she went on a date with the former pop star in 2001.

Peter is upset that the claims, made in the News Of The World in 2004, have resurfaced and he was not warned that they would be detailed in Ms Vardy’s court battle with her partner Wag Coleen Rooney.

Sources say the father of four has consulted lawyers because he can’t remember a night of passion with Rebekah, 40, in a Buckinghamshire hotel.

“Pete doesn’t remember meeting her, nothing else matters,” a source said. ‘At the time of the article he was younger, he had no children and it didn’t matter as much.

Comments: Rebekah told the High Court in London that she regretted comparing Peter's private member to a 'chipollata' in a 2004 kiss-and-tell newspaper interview.
