Nick Knowles helped out another family on Thursday’s episode of Big Clear Out, as he transformed their home and added a personal memory that left the mother in tears.

The series, which has returned for a second season, saw the 59-year-old host and his team meet Nikki and her husband Chris.

In the show, Nick and his team agree to remodel a family’s house if they agree to get rid of half their unwanted clutter.

Nikki and Chris’ house has been invaded to the point that super tidy son Sam is staying out of college, while daughter Lucy has no room for friends.

Nikki’s relaxation therapy business was also taking a hit, as the clutter prevented her from having clients at home.

Meanwhile, her husband Chris doesn’t like to throw anything away either, as he has an affinity for making things, resulting in an excess of junk and failed jobs throughout the house.

Nick was surprised to see all the junk and asked Nikki, ‘How do you work on this?’

It’s a lot about clearing the mind, isn’t it? How can you do that when you’re in a place full of clutter?’

The family gets to work sorting through their things, managing to completely empty out their house and transfer 195 boxes of their worldly possessions to Albert Halls in Bolton.

Among the clutter are 945 stuffed toys, 107 family photos and 144 crystals, and they give a lot to a local hospice and sell surplus personal belongings in the trunk of the car.

After all their hard work, the family was delighted when Nick’s team completely transformed their home.

They reinstated a warm and functional conservatory, creating a spacious and inviting family room, a quiet oasis in the master bedroom, and a clutter-free professional therapy room to allow Nikki to have clients at home.

She exclaimed, “It looks like a magazine: how other people live.”

And she burst into tears when Nick showed her that a photo of her grandmother when she was 18 had been saved and framed in the bedroom.

Nikki said: “It’s been fixed, but we found a little picture of my grandmother in the storeroom when she was 18. That’s beautiful, thank you.”

Nick asked, ‘It means a lot to you, your grandmother, though, doesn’t it?’

She replied: ‘Yes, I was always very close to my grandmother growing up. It’s just amazing.

Following the transformation, Nick also revealed that his house could now be worth a staggering £250,000, £40,000 more than the asking price.

It comes after last week’s episode saw Nick fight back tears.

Nick and his team met Sarah, who had tragically lost her veteran husband Trevor to a fatal heart attack.

During the episode, an emotional Sarah struggled to give up her late husband’s extensive military memories.
