Love Island fans were upset when 19-year-old Gemma kissed 27-year-old Davide in the 2022 launch episode, but they’re not even the youngest or oldest islanders to ever enter the villa.

Viewers were quick to criticize the show after the teenager was seen kissing the “Italian stud”. Davide Sanclimentiwho is 27 years old.
One viewer said: “The fact that Andrew and Davide are EIGHT years older than Gemma doesn’t sit well with me, does anyone else?”
Another agreed, saying: “I beg the producers to keep Gemma away from Davide, she’s a teenager and he’s almost 30, that’s not what I’m here for.”
Some even threatened to file official complaints, with one fan joking, “If Davide talks to Gemma, I’ll call Ofcom and the police.”
But it’s not the first time there have been huge age gaps on the dating show, and Gemma isn’t even the youngest contestant there has ever been.

Youngest contestants on Love Island
The youngest contestant to appear on Love Island was Amelia Petersthat he was only 18 years old when he appeared in the show’s third season.
Amelia entered the villa as part of the Casa Amour turnaround; she was unable to match up and didn’t stay on the show for long, but during her brief time there she shared a bed and made out with 21-year-old Kem Cetinay.

Love Island’s oldest contestants
Andres Le Page and Davide Sanclimenti, both 27, are the oldest contestants so far this year, but they’re not the oldest to appear on Love Island.
The oldest islanders include Jordan Ring, Marcel Somerville and Paul Knops, who were 31 years old when they appeared in series one, three and four of the show.
Marcel Somerville appeared in the same season as the youngest ever contestant, Amelia Peters, which meant series three had a 12-year age gap.

Several islanders were 29 years old when they starred in the show, including Laura AndersonTom Walker, Marvin Brooks, Anna Vakili, Rachel Finni, and twins John and Tony Alberti.
