Infinix will introduce the latest fast charging technology in the new flagship phone – Back End News

Infinix has introduced fast 180W Thunder Charge technology, which will debut on select Infinix flagship phones to be announced in the second half of the year.

The revolutionary new technology will allow users to reach the 1-50% charge time of the 4,500 mAh battery in just four minutes, providing a faster and safer advanced smart device charging experience.

“Following the launch of last year’s Infinix 160W Fast Charge Concept Phone, the Infinix 180W Thunder Charge is another industry breakthrough bringing ultra-fast charging technology to the public,” said Joseph Cernitchez, Infinix Chief Marketing Officer. “Infinix aims to continue to improve daily efficiency through iteration and innovation of fast charging technology so that users around the world can be the first to experience an efficient and convenient digital life.”

Featured in the technology is the new GaN semiconductor material, which enables the 180W Thunder Charge to be resistant to a variety of high-temperature environments above 40°C. In addition, the charger adapter supports multiple fast charging protocols and can perform maximum 100W fast charging for most electronic devices on the market, which includes mobile phones, tablets and laptops, providing users with maximum flexibility with a one cable solution for all. Users can also use third-party cables to charge Infinix devices up to 100W.

180W Thunder Charge has two separate charging modes, Furious Mode and Standard Mode. Furious mode can be activated with the click of a button, giving users 180W super fast charging.

80W charging technology

Regular smartphones with fast charging functions generally use batteries with a charging rate of 1 to 3C, while 180W Thunder Charge uses batteries with a rate of 8C, which effectively reduces the chances of the battery overheating due to to fast charging technology.

Infinix worked with the world’s leading battery manufacturers to develop a new 8C battery cell, which is the highest charge rate for rechargeable lithium batteries in the industry today. The 8C cell has a lower internal resistance compared to the conventional single-electrode lug structure, as well as a multi-electrode lug, which reduces more than 50% of the internal resistance and produces less heat. The 180W Thunder Charge uses two 8C-rated batteries in series, so the charging power of each battery is only 90W while charging, reducing heat and increasing longevity.

180W Thunder Charge also adopts automatic bi-directional power supply technology to extend phone battery life by 2% compared to phones with traditional dual-cell battery design. Automatic bidirectional power supply technology reduces the power supply circuit area by 60%, increases circuit design accuracy, and saves space. The charging technology works by dynamic distribution. Three parallel charge pumps support the highest power conversion to date in an Infinix device, achieving 99% charge conversion efficiency, preventing overcharging and overheating. This is the pinnacle of Infinix charging technology to date.

Security is a key priority as the 180W Thunder Charge has 111 software and hardware security protection mechanisms to protect smartphones, chargers and charging cables. Security protection is activated during abnormal scenarios, such as high temperature, voltage surge, electromagnetic interference and more, to ensure the safety of the smartphone system.

The 80W Thunder Charge features 20 temperature sensors, which are distributed across USB ports, charging chips, on the battery, and other locations within the device. Charging is controlled in real time through an intelligent temperature control algorithm that keeps track of everything. While the device is charging, the temperature of the smartphone stays below 43℃, ensuring a safe and fast charging experience without excess heat and battery degradation.

The 180W Thunder Charge Cable has a special Infinix encryption chip built-in, which generates 180W power transmission for ultra-fast charging. 180W Thunder Charge can identify the power transmission capacity of the cable and adjust accordingly. If a different cable without Infinix’s special encryption chip is connected to the device, it identifies the cable and limits the power to 60W/100W to ensure safe charging.
