Richard Madeley calls out Labor MP for not answering question

Good Morning Britain viewers were asking ‘what was wrong’ with Richard Madeley on the itv show on Wednesday, as the host mocked a guest on the show.

Richard and co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins were interviewing Ian Murray MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, and asked him about the latest news around Sir Keir Starmer.

the Labor Party leader and his deputy Angela Reyner both have received questionnaires by Durham Police as part of an investigation into the alleged breach of Covid rules.

Richard was quick to ask the MP about this and who he thought could replace Starmer if he was fined, following the leader’s promise to resign if fined for breaking the rules.

But things soon heated up when Richard accused the show’s guest of being “rude” and not answering his question.

As things escalated, viewers claimed that the host was having a “meltdown” and questioned his “overreacting” reaction, as well as demanding answers, but were cut off before the answers came.

After asking who would replace Starmer, Richard was unhappy with the answer, replying, “Sorry, just sorry…you’re telling us what we know.

“The question is who would take over if Sir Keir was fined and kept his promise and resigned, who would be the next leader of the L Labor Party?”

After trying to speak, Ian Murray said: “Well, I think it’s pretty clear what B oris johnson want to do because your only defense is…”

But Richard then shouted over him, saying, “Who will be the leader of the Labor Party? No I’m not, come on… if you don’t want to answer that’s fine, just say ‘don’t ask’.” I asked that question Richard because I’m not going to answer it’.

“But viewers at home can hear me ask a question and they can hear you give an answer to a question I haven’t asked.

“So it’s just courtesy, I’ll politely ask you one more time. Yes sir Keir Starmer withdrawn and it is a possibility, this is not in the realms of absolute fantasy.

“If he resigns because he gets a ticket, who do you think could take over… if you don’t want to answer, say you don’t want to answer, but don’t give me an answer.” to a question I haven’t asked, because it’s just rude.

The MP replied, “Well, I think it’s also rude to interrupt when I’m trying to answer the question.”

Richard responded, “Then answer the question, that’s why I’m interrupting…don’t excuse me, I’m interrupting you sir because you’re not answering the question, and I’ll interrupt anyone from anywhere who doesn’t.” answer the question, because that’s my job.

He then asked if MPs had “special training” on how to avoid answering questions, and as the guest claimed he was being interrupted, Richard replied, “No, it wasn’t.”

While some viewers supported Richard and said they felt his frustration, many others criticized his interview technique and praised the MP for how he handled the chat.
