George Michael Freedom Uncut documentary to tell the ‘full story’ of the late singer’s life

A new George Michael documentary feature film, Freedom Uncut, will be released as a global cinematic event this summer.

The late singer, who passed away on Christmas Day in 2016, aged just 53, was heavily involved in the project before his death and provided narration for the film, which hits theaters June 22.

The documentary, released by Sony Music Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing, will give fans the “full story” of the pop icon and provides an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at George’s tumultuous personal life offstage.

Described as his ‘final work’, George Michael: Freedom Uncut will explore a series of exclusive personal archive material and trace the musician’s life from the release of his 1987 solo album Faith to the making and release of his 1990 follow-up. -up album Listen Without Prejudice: Vol 1.

It will also give a glimpse of the star’s anguish over the loss of his first love Anselmo Feleppa – who died at the age of 36 from an AIDS-related illness – and the death of his beloved mother.

Additionally, the posthumous release, directed by George and his close friend David Austin, also serves as a reminder of George’s incredible career, from his Wham! until his solo career.

A host of stars from the world of music and entertainment appear in the documentary, with the participation of Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Nile Rogers and Liam Gallagher.

While supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista also appear.

The official synopsis for the film reads: ‘George offers an open and honest look at both sides of life; the very public journey of him in his music career and also his personal life, a side that the cameras never really saw.

While David shared: ‘The film is George’s final work. Narrated by George himself, it is the complete story.
