However, his entry into acting happened by chance when he was 10 years old.

speaking to vanity fair in 2020, Austin revealed that it was while accompanying when his stepbrother went to Los Angeles for a commercial audition, he was asked if he, too, would like to read a role.

According to Austin: ‘I don’t know what happened to me, but I said yes. They give me a commercial, Oreo or Welch’s grape juice or something, and I’m on camera behind all these kids.

“I was shaking, but I did it, and that led to being an extra at 10 years old.”

“I printed out the script for Pulp Fiction when I was 12 years old and read it to my mother in the car,” he said.

‘That was my dream since I was 12 years old. I said: “Quentin [Tarantino] He’s the director I want to work with.”

That wish came true when he played Tex Watson, a rabid Manson fan, in the director’s iconic 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Austin was accompanied to the film’s 2019 premiere with then-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, 33, who reportedly called it quits in early 2020 after nearly nine years together.

He has since confirmed his relationship with Kaia Gerber, the 20-year-old model and daughter of Cindy Crawford in March this year, after the couple was first seen together in late 2021.

However, he has kept quiet about the relationship, telling GQ that he doesn’t want to share anything about it.

Austen prefers to talk about her work as an actor, even when it includes painful details about her personal life.

He has been outspoken about how he created the audition tape that landed him the role of Elvis in Luhrmann’s film, speaking openly about how he channeled the pain of his mother’s death from cancer several years earlier, when he was 23, into his performance. .

After trying to film an audition tape for the film and feeling it was inauthentic, the actor went to bed despondent and had a nightmare in which his mother was alive again, but dying.

Just a few days earlier, Austen had learned that Elvis had also lost his mother when he was 23, and thought about how she might use the parallel.

He said Fashion: ‘I sat down at the piano in my bathrobe and started playing the violin. I’ve been practicing Unchained Melody for a while, but I’ve always sung it to a lover.

‘That night, I sang it to my mom. She wasn’t trying to look and sound like Elvis. I wasn’t trying to do anything other than take that emotion and pour it into the song.

Despite the lack of luster (Austin was wearing his robe in the film), the video was compelling enough to land him the movie’s eponymous role, despite director Baz Luhrmann considering bigger names like Harry Styles.

Now that the film is finally out, following a grueling production schedule that included lengthy delays due to Covid, the applause has already started pouring in for its star.

Industry figures now anticipate huge success for their star. In fact, Luhrmann, who cast Leonardo DiCaprio in his ’90s adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, compared the two actors, suggesting Austin can expect the same trajectory.

Speaking to GQ, he said: “I think Leonardo was acknowledging what Austin is about to go through. The difference for Austin, and this is fortunate, is that Austin looks very young, but he’s 30 years old.
