Previous newcastle Y Liverpool Defender José Enrique believes that the Magpies should look to sign three of the Premier league Players they have recently been linked with.

Everton Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is reportedly a target for Eddie Howe’s side, who struggled to score goals last season. Top scorer Callum Wilson missed more than half of the 2021/22 season due to injury, while Chris Wood only scored twice in 17 appearances after completing a £25m move from Burnley.

In an interview with betting expertEnrique claimed that if Calvert-Lewin can stay fit, he can be a world-class striker after scoring just five league goals during an injury-hit 2021/22 campaign.

“I think they should bring in a world-class striker. Even if they have Callum Wilson and Chris Wood,” Enrique said. “It’s up to Eddie what he sees every day in training. They were talking about (Dominic) Calvert-Lewin. I really like Calvert-Lewin a lot.

“Same again, he had big injury problems this season so I’m not sure if Newcastle will sign him but obviously Eddie knows him well. Calvert-Lewin, he will be a great signing for them, if he can stay in shape. I think he can be a great signing.”

“I was actually talking about this in Instagram and the Newcastle fans said ‘we already have Chris Wood and Callum Wilson, I don’t think I can add anything to that’. I think you can.

Should Everton try to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Tarkowski or Raphina this month? Give your opinion on comments section.

“As the transfer window progresses, there are options that did not exist before. A striker you are thinking about right now may not be available because the club does not want to sell him. But then later in the transfer window, it’s actually the option because they want to sell him to sign two or more three players.

“It is very difficult to talk about who would be the perfect striker for Newcastle. Right now, Calvert-Lewin is the best option, but maybe later in the transfer window, they have better options from some of the big clubs who don’t want those players.

Also linked to Newcastle’s interest is Burnley defender James Tarkowski, who will become a free agent following the Clarets’ relegation from the Premier League. leicesterAston Villa, Everton and Fulham They have also been linked to the defender, whom Enrique has described as the perfect centre-back for Newcastle.

“Tarkowski, a central defender, free, will be a very good signing,” says Enrique. “As for wages, they will pay you well. Aston Villa want him too, so I’m not sure what will happen there.

“I feel sorry for Stevie (Steven Gerrard) but the reality is that if I have Aston Villa and Newcastle, I will go to Newcastle with the players they have and the club they have. I think it’s massive. If you have both options, I would definitely go to Newcastle.

“He is a very good centre-back, and he is free, so obviously you will have to pay him more in terms of salary. He would be a great signing. They need a central defender with experience in the Premier League. He is the perfect centre-back for Newcastle. Perfect.”

Enrique also spoke about his former team’s chances of signing Leeds and Brazilian winger Raphinha, who he has also been linked with. Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

While Enrique likes Raphinha and would be keen to see him at Newcastle, he admits Howe’s side may struggle to beat Barcelona and seal his side’s signing.

“Raphinha is a player they could look at,” Enrique said. “Raphinha is a quality player. I think she will bring a lot, but it will be difficult to compete with Barcelona”.
